Mykonos Beaches
A Guide to the Island's Best Coastline
Mykonos is home to some truly beautiful beaches, many within easy reach of the town and served by local buses running throughout the day.
The Island's Best Known Bays
Divided by a large headland, both beaches are well equipped with sunbeds and restaurants, and Psarou is home to the celebrated Nammos beach club.
ParagaThe next bay beyond Platis Gialos, with crystal clear water for swimming. Its beach clubs and bars start out relaxed earlier in the day and build into a full party atmosphere by late afternoon.
Paradise & Super ParadiseTwo of the island's most famous beaches, both with first class facilities, sun loungers, beach restaurants and bars, and wonderful swimming. Paradise's beach club hits full swing by late afternoon with a young crowd, while Super Paradise plays chilled sounds through the day before building into a full club atmosphere as the sun goes down.
Elia, Kalafatis, Aghia Anna, Kalo Livadi & AgrariThese bays sit to the southeast of Mykonos Town, all offering excellent swimming in crystal clear water and near perfect sand, along with the usual sunbeds, restaurants and bars. Kalafatis and Elia are especially good for watersports, while Agrari's small cove suits a quieter day on the beach.
Worth the Extra Drive
The island rewards those willing to explore a little further. Most beaches are served by good roads, though a few are reached by narrower tracks, so there's no need to rush.
Ftelia, Panormos & Agios SostisThree bays to the northeast of town, best reached with your own transport. Ftelia is closest to town, a long sweeping bay with a fairly constant wind that makes it popular with windsurfers, while its sheltered western end suits swimming, with a beach restaurant and sunbeds for hire. Panormos is a small beach resort with good facilities and a stylish beach lounge restaurant, and nearby Agios Sostis has a much loved traditional taverna.
LiaSoft sand and remarkably clear water make this a real pleasure for swimming. Good facilities and a relaxed, chilled out beach club make it well worth the visit.
Just a Short Walk Away
A handful of beaches sit within walking distance of the town, close to much of the accommodation that has grown up around the island over the years.
Agios Stephanos, Ornos, Korfos & Megali AmmosAll offer great facilities, though they can get busy in high season given how close they sit to town and its accommodation. Whichever beach you choose on Mykonos, the swimming and beach life rarely disappoint.
